Balanitis

Coutii Healthy - Balanitis is inflammation at the tip of the head of the penis (glans penis) that is caused by a variety of things. Infections that occur due to balanitis is often also causes inflammation of the skin covering the penis on the penis that are not circumcised (preputium). Several things can cause the occurrence of balanitis include fungal infections, bacterial infections, infectious diseases, skin irritation, and other skin disorders.


Balanitis can occur in anyone and at any age. Balanitis is often occur in children under 4 years old and in the adult male who is not circumcised. One of the 25-30 people who are not circumcised are experiencing balanitis.

Symptoms Of Balanitis

Causes Of Balanitis

There are several things that can cause a person affected by balanitis, among others:

  1. Don't keep clean genitals. If someone who has not been circumcised doesn't maintain the cleanliness of his genitals, then plus factors tight foreskin (preputium), may cause irritation due to fluid on the genitals (smegma). Smegma is a dirty liquid formed under the foreskin at the genitals are not circumcised. These factors are the main cause of occurrence of balanitis.
  2. Sexually transmitted infections. Sexually transmitted infections can sometimes lead to balanitis, especially if someone is suffering from inflammation of the urinary tract (urethra). A wide range of sexually transmitted infectious diseases (e.g., genital herpes, chlamydia, or gonorrhea) can cause balanitis. Symptoms that appear on the balanitis due to sexually transmitted infection is usually a pain upon urination and out of fluid from the urethra.
  3. Infection infectious nonseksual. A wide range of microbes that normally live on the skin may cause infectious disease. Candida sp generally live on the surface of the skin in normal conditions, but at any given time can cause infection. Several types of bacteria can also cause balanitis in childhood or adult male. Infection happens more easily if a person has the condition as follows:
